Rules For Under Graduate Courses


Attendance and grant of terms

As per University Ordinance 119, a student must attend lectures and practicals on 3/4th of the days on which lectures and practicals are conducted in each term.

As per University Ordinance 125, for grant of terms of an academic year, it is mandatory on part of the student to complete course study to the satisfaction of the Principal/Head of the Institution

If a student fails to abide by the above mentioned ordinances, his/her terms may not be granted and hence he/she will not be considered eligible to appear for term/final examinations.


Examination scheme

The college holds examinations for first year and second year classes of BA, BCom and BSc as per norms laid down by the University of Mumbai

There shall be two examinations, one at the end of each term and they shall be called first term examination and second term examination. Both terms will be of equal duration and equal marks. First term examination shall be based on the portion of syllabus taught in the first term, and second term examination shall be based on the portion of syllabus taught in the second term

Practical examination (whenever applicable) will be conducted only once before the end of second term


Standard of passing

The passing in subject shall be based on aggregate marks of first and second term examinations taken together

Appearance at both term examinations is compulsory

Appearance at tutorial/project evaluation is compulsory

Appearance at practical examination is compulsory


In order to pass

A minimum of 35% marks is required in a subject having only one paper

In a subject having more than one paper, a minimum of 20% marks in each paper and 35% marks in the aggregate

In case of a subject with practicals, a minimum of 35% is needed in practicals separately


ATKT Rules

FYBA, FYBCom, SYBCom: A student who has failed in not more than 2 heads of passing, total of which does not exceed 200 marks, will be allowed to keep term in the next higher class

SYBA: A student who has failed in not more than 2 heads of passing, total of which does not exceed 300 marks, will be allowed to keep terms in the next higher class

FYBSc: A student who has failed n not more than 2 heads of passing total of which does not exceed 220 marks, will be allowed to keep terms in the next higher class

SYBSc: A student who has failed in not more than 2 heads of passing total of which does not exceed 300 marks, will be allowed to keep terms in the next higher class


Examination for repeaters/ATKT students

A student who has been declared failed or ATKT for higher class, shall appear as ex-student for the annual examination held by the college on behalf of University of Mumbai, only in the heads of passing in which he or she has failed to secure 35% marks


Annual Examinations

The Annual Examination shall be of 3 hours duration and of 100 marks per paper, per subject, where there are no practicals. For papers with practicals, the papers in subject will be 60 marks and 2 hours duration

The questions shall be drawn from the entire syllabus and will be divided into 2 sections. The section 1, based on first term portion and section 2 based on second term portion. In order to pass, a student must get 35%marks in each head of passing

There will be two such examinations held, one at the end of first term and second at the end of second term

A student who has failed or has ATKT, but has 35% marks in some papers/heads of passing, shall be exempted from appearing in these papers/heads of passing


Verification of Results

There shall be no facility of re-evaluation of answer books at FY and SY examinations conducted by the college on behalf of University Of Mumbai

Students can apply for verification of marks in one or more papers if they so desire

Verification includes correction of mistakes in transfer of entries, totaling and correction of unassessed part of answer if any

Verification does not mean re-assessment

Mistakes if any, will be corrected in the college records by the examination committee
